GoodWe and Enertec: Advanced Technology Integrated into Intelligent BTM Energy Management

GoodWe and Enertec: Advanced Technology Integrated into Intelligent BTM Energy Management-Notizie

Energy systems in commercial and industrial facilities are becoming increasingly complex. Solar PV systems are being complemented by battery energy storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, thermal loads and other flexible loads, together with increasingly demanding grid interaction. In this environment, the quality of each individual device is no longer the only factor that matters; equally important is how effectively all elements are integrated and coordinated as a single system.

This is where GoodWe and Enertec SMART Energy Solution (ESES) naturally complement each other. Drawing on years of experience, continuous development and specialist expertise, GoodWe provides an advanced, reliable and technologically sophisticated C&I platform comprising inverters, battery energy storage systems and other solutions for energy generation and storage. In many energy systems, these solutions are already highly effective and fully capable as standalone solutions.

When GoodWe technology forms part of a broader on-site energy system in which multiple devices, loads, tariff structures and economic objectives need to be coordinated, Enertec adds the ESES energy management layer. Its role is not to replace the intelligence embedded in GoodWe devices, but to integrate their capabilities with the other assets within the facility and incorporate them into comprehensive optimisation of energy flows behind the meter (BTM).

BTM: When Individual Assets Become Part of an Integrated Energy System

Behind-the-Meter (BTM) energy management means the intelligent and coordinated management of all energy sources, storage assets and loads located behind the customer's meter. Enertec’s BTM system can integrate a solar PV system, battery energy storage, EV charging infrastructure, thermal loads and other flexible loads, managing them as a single energy system.

Its control decisions can take into account energy generation and consumption, available battery capacity, grid connection capacity, network tariffs, energy prices, time-of-use periods, device-specific constraints and user requirements. The objective is to optimise energy flows within the facility and achieve the lowest total energy cost or the highest overall economic value from the energy system.

The Key Is System-Wide Coordination

Modern GoodWe inverters and battery energy storage systems already incorporate advanced functionality for efficient energy conversion, storage and utilisation. However, when the system must simultaneously take into account other loads, grid connection capacity constraints, EV charging infrastructure, network tariffs and energy price signals, coordinated control becomes essential.

A battery energy storage system can be highly optimised for its own operating function, yet the broader BTM system must also coordinate its use with the facility's other objectives. At one moment, it may be more valuable to increase solar self-consumption; at another, to reduce peak demand, preserve part of the battery's available capacity for later use, or take advantage of a more favourable price period.

In more complex installations, ESES therefore coordinates peak shaving, increased solar self-consumption, site power management, available battery capacity, and tariff and price signals. It does not interfere with the fundamental protection and device-level control logic of GoodWe equipment; rather, it uses the capabilities of those devices within the wider context of the facility and aligns them with local energy-market, tariff and business conditions.

From Monitoring to Economically Optimised BTM Energy Management

Monitoring shows what is happening within the system. Active BTM energy management enables the system to respond to that information. In a complex energy system, it is therefore not enough simply to know how much energy is being generated, stored or consumed; the system must continuously determine how the individual assets should operate together.

For a commercial or industrial user, the ultimate consideration is the economics of the system. Financial value can be created through higher solar self-consumption, peak demand reduction, more effective use of battery energy storage, optimisation against time-varying energy prices and improved site power management. The actual financial impact depends on the facility's load profile, system size, tariff structure, energy prices and operating conditions, and should therefore be evaluated on a site-specific basis.

The value is not created by any single component. GoodWe provides quality, performance and intelligence at the technology level, while ESES, where the system is broader and more complex, helps ensure that this technological potential is utilised as effectively as possible within an integrated BTM optimisation strategy.

Clear Compatibility Between GoodWe and Enertec SMART Energy Solution

This type of cooperation also creates an opportunity for standardisation and clear compatibility labelling.

"Compatible with Enertec SMART Energy Solution" means that a specific GoodWe product has been technically validated and is ready for integration into ESES. For system designers, installers and C&I users, it provides a clear indication that the selected GoodWe technology, in addition to its standalone functionality, is also ready to be integrated into a broader actively managed BTM energy system.

"Powered by Enertec SMART Energy Solution" represents the next level: the specific installation has been configured, commissioned and integrated into ESES, which coordinates energy flows across the entire facility.

The distinction is therefore clear: Compatible indicates technical readiness for integration, while Powered by indicates actual integration into an actively managed BTM system. This model creates added value for all parties: GoodWe extends its technology platform into the broader context of complex energy systems, Enertec gains a proven and high-quality technology base for ESES, and the customer receives a solution that combines advanced technology with local integration and system-wide energy management.

Partnership and the Future of BTM Energy Management

The combination of GoodWe Technologies and Enertec SMART Energy Solution can extend beyond an individual project. Standardised technical compatibility, clearly defined integration and BTM energy management enable a partnership model in which GoodWe provides a proven technology platform, Enertec provides the ESES management and service layer, and local partners provide on-site implementation and the customer relationship. This model can first be developed and validated in the Slovenian market and then, together with GoodWe and local partners, progressively expanded to Croatia and other regional markets.

The ongoing evolution and increasing complexity of the energy sector will further strengthen the importance of BTM energy management. Dynamic electricity pricing, new network tariff structures, the growing deployment of battery energy storage, transport electrification and the increasing number of flexible loads mean that the economic value of an energy system will increasingly depend on how intelligently its individual assets are coordinated.

As a result, the focus of energy management will increasingly shift behind the meter, where generation, storage, consumption and grid connection capacity must be managed as one integrated system. This is also where the foundation is created for the next stages of development: greater flexibility, aggregation, demand response and participation in energy markets. These are not necessarily functions that every system must already provide today, but they represent a logical direction for the evolution of energy management.

The value of this partnership therefore does not end at system commissioning. GoodWe provides a reliable, high-performance technology platform designed to evolve with the market, while Enertec ESES integrates that platform, in more complex environments, with the actual energy and economic conditions of each individual site. The common objective is to maximise the energy and economic value of the system throughout its entire lifecycle.
